Battery Take-Back Recycling

 Tools:UK Limited

Battery Take-Back & Disposal Policy

Our Legal Responsibilities

We are registered as a portable battery producer with the Environment Agency via the National Packaging Waste Database (NPWD).

Because we sell more than 32 kg of portable batteries per year, we also meet the definition of a battery distributor and comply with the battery take-back requirements enforced by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) under the UK Waste Batteries Regulations.

Free Battery Take-Back Service

We provide a free take-back service for used portable batteries, including INGCO battery packs.

Customers may return any portable batteries, whether or not they were originally purchased from us. This service is provided free of charge and in accordance with UK legislation.

What Batteries Can Be Returned

This service covers:

INGCO lithium-ion battery packs

Rechargeable and single-use portable batteries

Batteries removed from battery-powered tools

Automotive and industrial batteries are not covered and must be disposed of via specialist routes.

How to Return Used Batteries

Used portable batteries may be returned to our premises during normal opening hours and placed in the designated battery collection container.

Safety guidance:

Do not dispose of batteries in general waste

Do not return damaged or leaking batteries

Where possible, protect exposed terminals (e.g. with tape)

Meaning of the Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin Symbol

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on batteries, packaging, or instructions indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste and must be collected separately for recycling.

Why Battery Recycling Matters

Recycling batteries:

Prevents hazardous substances from entering the environment

 Enables recovery of valuable materials

Reduces landfill and supports sustainable resource use

Compliance Statement

Our battery take-back arrangements form part of our producer and distributor responsibilities.
We maintain appropriate records and recycling arrangements in line with requirements set by the Environment Agency and the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
